Your kitchen is personal to you but did you know there are some interesting facts, figures and habits connected to all our kitchens and the food we eat? This week’s blog focuses on some of the most interesting facts and habits attached to our kitchen and food choices!

Did you know… 22% of UK and Irish home owners install a TV in their kitchens. Meanwhile, 12% of us nationwide chose to upgrade the kitchen with integrated music systems. Boiling water taps like Quooker are being inherited by 18% whereas 17% of us feel a snazzy new coffee machine is a must have!

Did you know… 68% of us believe our kitchen’s storage capacity is the most important feature of a kitchen, above anything else! 34% opt for a walk-in pantry, whereas 63% of us go for organised utility facilities and cutlery drawers.

#3 Tables –


Did you know… Open plans are very much ‘in’ as a contemporary style, however, 42% of us choose to place a table into our kitchen design. In Wales, 49% of people invest in a dining table!

#4 Lighting –


Did you know… Pendant lights continue to be a firm favourite to illuminate a kitchen space. Yet, breathing new life into the kitchen are spotlights, with around 68% of homeowners choosing this type of kitchen lighting above anything else!

#5 Lifetime –


Did you know… We spend around 12% of our lives in our kitchen! When it’s broken down, that’s an average of around 2.8hrs a day in the kitchen. That’s another reason as to why having a kitchen that you like and enjoy being in is so important.

Did you know… A spork is a cross between a fork and a spoon. A splade is a cross between a knife, fork and spoon – a spoon with a blade! How many of you have them at home!?
