For example, if you live in the Northern Hemisphere the season is from September to February, while it is March through May in the southern hemisphere, allowing you to reap the benefits all year round, lucky you!
Pomegranates have healthy amounts of fibre to help keep your system regulated, and are one of the fruits nutritionists suggest for weight loss and cholesterol level control; at the same time boosting immunity and improving circulation. Research also suggests they offer help against cancer too.
Don’t Forget Your Vitamins
According to studies one pomegranate contains 40% of your daily requirement of vitamin C. Vitamin C helps boost your immune system, which is really good for helping prevent or reduce the duration and severity of illness. Pomegranates are also full of antioxidant’s which help fight off viruses and infections like the flu.
If the fruit isn't readily available then having pomegranate juice also has significant health benefits. In a recent study, people with severe carotid artery blockages, after having just one ounce of pomegranate juice daily for one year, saw a 30% reduction in atherosclerotic plaque. In striking contrast however, those participants who did not take the pomegranate juice saw atherosclerotic plaque increase by 9%.
